I love Ryo Nishikido (Zenkai Girl Review)

Follow docalion on Twitter

Ryo Nishikido. Ryo Nishikido. Ryo Nishikido. Ryo Nishikido. Ryo Nishikido. Ryo Nishikido....................
Waah!!!! Yes this show made me realize how awesome and great RYO NISHIKIDO is. Yes, he sure looks dirty, messy, ragged blah blah blah (to the old me) but I dont know why..when he cries I cry, when he's sad, my heart breaks but when he smiles, my heart flies with joy  gyaaboooo~~~ I love it when my I find myself mistaken by my bad vibes for a series. I was hesitant to watch Zenkai Girl at first because I'm not a fan of the main leads, Gakky and Ryo. They are both okay but I'm not a believer/follower of their series. I'm fine with Gakky because she's cute and tolerable but she never impressed me while Ryo never made me a believer that he's an Ikemen. I always thought how he became a Johnny's, he isn't really that good looking. Well, that's what I used to think, especially during the 1 liter of tears days. I guess he's fine but never made an impact to me. However, after watching Zenkai my heart cant stop shouting...RYO RYO RYO RYO RYO RYO FTWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

                                                                                          Ryo~ryo~Ryo~ryo

I was impressed by his acting skills, he improved a lot. Well, I was able to watch Joker before where he had a supporting role. I guess he already looked good then but not enough to make me a believer. I've only seen three series of his, 1 liters, Joker and this one and I can say I become proud of his ability as an actor. He has shown depth and seriousness on his character that even he and Gakky has chemistry, it made me wished that he should have been paired with another actress. For me, Gakky's portrayal of the role was good and passable. But her acting skills are not at par with Ryo. I think she lacked depth and effort in her portrayal of Wakaba's character. Sure, seeing the two of them onscreen made sparks fly. I love their love tension and their subtle hint of romance. But when it comes down to business (acting-wise), Gakky fell short. I'm wondering if whose actress could have done the role better. Hmmm...for me I always thought of the following as better actresses: Ueno Juri (very versatile), Erika Toda (i dislike her but she really can deliver), Haruka Ayase (well her roles were mostly safe, or so i think, but she's better than Gakky), Ishihara Saotomi (my nee-chan though short but she's very expressive and those eyes....), Masami Nagasawa (i think ProDai is enough to prove her worth, haha, IDK but for me she's a pro) and lastly of course my forever Mao Inoue (Tsukushi!! FTW, very expressive eyes and can fake tears tastefully but will always like him with MatsuJun). Note: The list is not finish, I can't think of any other names right now. It's really hard to choose from my list because the chemistry has to be taken into consideration. Well, I guess Erika Sawajiri can squeeze in. I think her Aya's role in 1 liter and her old team-up with Ryo are good points for the character Wakaba. Unfortunately, I think this series was really meant for Gakky, I mean it was intentionally made for her. Other characters can be replaced but not her. I think she's kinda big in Japan but I believe her craft is not that enough to win her an award. So Gakky, gambatte nee!!

                                                                 Sweet Gakky

Anyway, I thought Zenkai would beat Rich Man Poor Woman for my choice of romance drama for the last two years. Zenkai was good until the sleepover in Pill bug's house where the four made the "river" kanji character in their sleeping position. It was sweet and heartwarming. The remaining episodes were kinda okay but not exciting. It was the smiles of Ryo that made me continue..teee hee... I am not sure if it is a bad point or a good point for J-doramas that focus on romance genre. Yes, they have the strong romantic elements but they were mostly glued with family related issues that let the romance lessen. I mean, as compared to Kromantic dramas, kdramas are mostly solid love-driven story unlike Jdramas that only give meager parts to tease the audience. Well, I guess it just a matter of perspectives and this is mine anyway.

In the end, Zenkai ended on a satisfactory note. It was a nice series that could have been better but the chemistry between the leads was undeniable. Ryo for me is like Matsuda Shota. They are good at tear-jerker dramas but still are versatile enough to do other roles. They are truly underrated good Japanese actors.

Till then,

Not a SPORTS ANIME (Cross Game Anime Review)

Follow docalion on Twitter

Cross Game

This is an entry from http://myanimelist.net/profile/docalion

I'll try my best not to spoil the story. This is my first review at MAL after my long anime hiatus.

Anyway, the reason why I watched this anime was because of Ookiku Furikabute, another baseball anime. Cross Game is on top of its recommendation list that is why I got curious and started to watch it. Ookiku was so great and very recommendable. It's a great example of a sports anime that is why I expected a lot from Cross Game, hoping this new one is as superb as the former. But now that I'm close to finishing it, I can say that it's totally a different anime than I expected.

If you're a hardcore sports anime fan or the kind who looks forward to seeing thrilling and exciting sports action, you might not enjoy this one. Cross Game, as for me, is 30% baseball, 70% human drama. The story includes a "past character" whose presence is all over the show, which appeared to me like the effect of Sasuke to Naruto (character and show itself). It is heavy in human drama which I think most fan girls will love. When I say human drama, that's romance for you. Well, I kind of liked it too but for a sports anime to be overshadowed by another element called romance is a bit off. Maybe because this is something new for me as I'm always used to seeing the sports and action to be the main ingredients of the show. I also feel that the two elements are kind of frustrating to watch because it's not clear to me the focus of the story. You will be presented with episodes of baseball actions then after that, a series of slice of life dramas. I mean, if you want to reach Koshien and be the best in Japan, practice, practice and practice 'till you vomit blood and not let your idle time be spent in endless bickering. Well, maybe the bickering and LQs are there because it's more human drama than sports after all. Because of that I felt that the baseball element is not so important to the show, the "who's-gonna-end-up-with" part appeared to be more essential.

As per the characters, the hero is not your underdog type of character ( Ippo, Sena, Mihashi) nor the arrogant one (Sakuragi, Ryoma and Toua). Hmmm..a very average yet the type who only comes once in a decade kind of pitcher, he is. So if you're also the type who wants to see an awesome and cool main character, don't try this one. Yes, I think he's great but not that "great" (in the fanboy kind of way). I think he doesn't have that 100% sports resolve that you normally hear from other sports heroes. I mean, he doesn't wish to be a great baseball player, his goal is not that clear. For another character there's Aoba, the next main lead, a cute girl who mentored the hero. She is part of the love train. Anyways, I like her free spirited character but I'm annoyed by the responses she gets from the male characters of the show. Hmmm.. is she really that pretty/cute? The baseball team is crazy for her. As for the rest of the cast, hmmm...they are likable in the fangirl kind of way. If you're up for the thrills, there's no SUUPEER sports player you can totally cheer for (well, as for me anyway).

Overall, Cross Game is a decent anime. I think it's still better than the popular titles these days. It's not boring but will not excite you either. Well, there are cute moments that can make you smile and the question of "who's-gonna-end-up-with" is enough for you to continue watching the series. But still, A TRUE SPORTS ANIME FAN (or even a shounen-action fan, can that include me?) will not fully enjoy this. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to try this one.

UPDATE:
After watching the LAST EPISODE, I can say that this is truly a FANGIRL SERIES. It is barely a sports anime. I enjoyed the last part, because it’s really cute. But then again, the “baseball” is really the side dish. Don’t hope for it to be the next ____ (write your fave sports anime here), or else you’ll be disappointed. Watch Cross Game as a human drama anime and not as a sports anime.

Till then,

ENLIGHTENMENT

Follow docalion on Twitter

Hello Bloggy!!

Hisashiburi nee ~~

Wow! I cant believe I'm writing to you again. My last post was still in 2010 and it was a very difficult year for me. Well, actually it waslate 2009 where my hiatus started.

I dont know how it happened, but it just did. I thought it's going to be hard leaving behind something which has been there for most of your life. But surprisingly it just let go without a fight.

My addiction over j-doramas and anime came to a full halt early 2010. After then, I cant get myself into watching east asian series again. Well, there were times where I've watched Ghibli movies, caught some episodes of anime reruns on TV, and finished the j-dorama Joker (because it just felt the right thing to do but nothing wonderful came out of it). But they all felt dumb and weaker compared to my new set of addictions - US TV series.

Until just this week...

Hmmm...I dont know how, but I guess I have to thank my brother for it. He asked me for the ProDai DVDs because he wanted to watch it again. Then I thought, hmmm...why dont i try re-watching HANA YORI DANGO for a change because I'm starting to get bored with US series. Because honestly, they are really what you call guilty pleasures. They are like junk foods, they can help you get through the days and night but you wont gain nutrition watching them. Well there are some of course which I really like because they give off ANIME auras - SUPERNATURAL, ALPHAS...hmmm..what else?

Anyway highway, you see, once you divert or transfer your pop culture interest from one region to another, you'll surely feel some kind of comparisons. Asian series, esp, j-doramas, as I would like to label them as "you should not take it too serious" type because of course there are cheesy moments and larger-than-life scenarios that any critical viewer might not avoid raising an eyebrow or two. Because once you jump to the American series bandwagon and start to compare them, you would surely feel the inferiority of the asian dramas. Yes, there are exaggerated characters, super cheeeeezzzy love story, straight from the can script lines and mouth watering actors, as compared to the American series where they stay mostly in the "real" world (or so they think) and makes them more tolerable to watch. UNTIL recently, I had an enlightenment and realized what made me love ASIAN DRAMAS esp. JDORAMAS in the first place.

ARIGATOU HANA YORI DANGO (TV)!! You brought back the colors into my world again. You gave me a more meaningful life to live. You gave me sensations which I haven't felt for a long time. You made me CRY, LAUGH AND LOVE AGAIN. AND YOU MADE ME WRITE AGAIN.

ARIGATOU MAOTSUJUN!! Now I understood and realized why your great love story is there in the firs place. IT INSPIRES PEOPLE. It inspired me. I never got this kind of inspiration via watching US series and movies. There's a reason why EAST ASIAN DRAMAS RULE!!! Because THEY CAN TOUCH PEOPLE'S HEARTS. They can move immovable feelings. They can reach unreachable imaginations. They can just DO ANYTHING.

Wow!!!!!! I am super happy that I am an ADDICT. An ASIAN DRAMA ADDICT. It felt so different when you're watching a show which can curl up your stomach every now and then because of the love story EVERY GIRL in the planet wanted to see for themselves. Wow!! I never thought I can create a song again, but I just did, in less than 5 minutes! I dont know if its good but it's my response to the love story Doumyouji and Makino have shared with me.

Sorry, my thoughts are all over the place. I am just so HAPPY. I think I just found my old self, the real me? These past years have been really difficult. And I am to thank my Jdoramas because I know they will help me to quite ease the burden out of it.

Well, that's it  for now. I just wanted to share with you my enlightenment. Well, if only JUN MATSUMOTO AND MAO INOUE are really dating, that would just make me SUPPER HAPPY!! Now I can declare they are my SUPER COUPLE OF ALL TIME and HANA YORI DANGO is my SUPER JDORAMA FOREVER!!!

From a MAOTSUJUN BELIVER,

P.S. I know it wont be too long soon. I'll get back to my feet again. I am hopeful that I can face MY FIRST LOVE again. Wait for me ANIME.

Roses = Let's Forget Everything (BARA NO NAI HANAYA JAPANESE DRAMA REVIEW )

Follow docalion on Twitter

Flower shop without a rose
(find out why it is so)

Well, I got myself busy into Jdoramas, as usual, these days. Bad for me. I'm procrastinating things. I need to submit my audio-video production script about my thesis next week. But I haven't started editing any of my videos yet. **sigh** Maybe, I am not yet in the mood..... what a lame excuse. **sigh** I can't help it. JDORAMAS ARE REALLY ADDICTING!!!

Well, before it flies away from my mind, I would just like to share with you my new found gem! Even though, I have watched good stuff recently, I wasn't able to talk of them with you. But this one is different. IT HAS TO BE SPREAD!! Next to this one, maybe is Bloody Monday and JIN. But romantic blingy always tickles me. **sigh** I miss Buchou and Hotaru-sama....this one makes me remember them.

It's Bara no nai Hanaya. I have been listing it since last year, while it's still airing. But i don't know, maybe I am not in the mood for its type, or I had underestimated its potential. Because, who would've thought that much from a human drama genre who would normally talk about life? It would be recycled theme again, nothing new to keep you asking. But, it surprised me once again. The things which I expected the least are always there to prove me wrong.

The plot is amazing. This kind of Jdorama is a rare one. Its cheesiness is just well blended. Normally, I would hate it but it is put in exact amount. The actors are well placed. Shingo Katori is so great at his role. My gosh!! Who would've thought Son Goku could be a family man? Yuko Takeuchi is new to me. This is the first time that I would be seeing her act in a drama. Although, I have already read her name in some drama searching and watched her in the Team Batista Movie trailer with Abe Hiroshi, I was still surprised how beautiful she really is. She is actually good but I sometimes think her giggles looked like rehearsed and fake, well, anyhow, I can still sense the honesty in her role. But the scene stealer will be, surprisingly, is the kid, Yuki Yagi, playing Shingo's daughter Shizuku. She acts so naturally and with full of honesty. She and Shingo really looks like father and daughter in real life, as if there's no pretension. There is such a chemistry between them.

a father and daughter scene

Shizuku-chan (Yuki Yagi~ so kawaii~)

the beautiful Yuko Takeuchi (Ohanaya -san!!)

the uber dependable Shingo-san

(no picture on the official website, why so?)

I am so surprised how the story went. At first, you'll just be introduced to single fatherhood and the usual back story of sad fairy tales and then you'll, of course, think that the new girl the father meets will be her new princess again where he will find love again. Well, it happened. But, NOT THAT FORMULAIC WAY!! It was surely complicated. There were lots of twists and turns in the story which will you think this is not an ordinary human drama. Or was it? Or maybe the writer is just really great that this kind of story really was still able to deliver fresh ideas after having so many kinds of dramas presented inside the tv screen? Well, whoever he is (Nojima Shinji), he is surely simply great!!

Another one, the thing that makes me miss buchou and hotaru and the reason why I got myself write an entry for this one, is of course the lovers confrontation at the end of the series. They do always have one, don't they? Like with Hotaru no Hikaru's and Galileo's own mini love confrontations. Well, not that really romantic with that of Galileo. I just put it that way...fufufufu. The confrontation scene with this one was held inside a green house of roses. The setting didn't bring any sense of romanticism in me, until .......WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!! Shingo-san non-stopped spoke "Aishitteru" to Yuko-san. And Yuko-san felt it so sudden that she is asking him to wait, maybe to make some preparations for herself but Eiji-san (Shingo) just continued the magic word over and over again.!! Wooohhh!! So sweet!! Shingo-san is not really that handsome compared of course to his SMAPmate Takuya, but something about him over shines this "handsomenity's" existence. Doing something like that, with full of honesty, is really a scene only in fairy tales. But the characters in this drama lived up that atmosphere and showed us the true nature of LOVE.

the love confrontation scene

Over all, it was surely a very very nice drama. Not that extravagant. But it was really really nice. This drama will surely teach you a simple lesson about trust, honesty, family, love and life. This is a surely a must-watch!

P.S.

Matsuda Shota-san is here. I feel he has good dramatic skills. I hope he could show more this skills in the future.

Matsuda Shota-san

And I think, I'll be able to start what I am supposed to do, regarding my thesis, after watching Shibatora. The torrents are on the last one now. I think I should stop there already. I hope I could keep with this!!! Wushu!!

War Romance! Wushu! ^_^ (VALKYRIA CHRONICLES ANIME REVIEW)

The love pyramid
(Welkin x Alicia x Faldio)

Har ~ Har!! I watched it full at last!! Nyarhahaha!!! Well, I was happy I wasn't disappointed. But sure, one thing, I realized..the serious tone doesn't get fine along with the anime, its plot holes are easily seen..Bwahahaha!! But don't care anymore, Romantic + Comedic = Uber SATISFACTION!!

Bwahahaha!!

Well, what can I say without any spoilers??? Hmmmm....It ended with a happy ending...You'll already know it!! Although very averag-y and cheesy, I still can't get enough of happily ever after. I got what I want, although I might say I was, of course, been surprised about some unpredictable turn of events. But nevertheless, it added to the sweetness of the story.

Welkin - sama deserves my highest respect!! I truly love him, that's why I would want to see more of his weird expressions and statements. He truly belongs in a unique category of heroes!! Wushu!!

Well, anywayz.... I could say that Valkyria Chronicles isn't perfect. You'll easily spot its weak points. The good thing is, when enjoyment factor would be on discussion, it will surely deliver.

Go Squad 7!
(7 is now my official second fave number, after 4!)

So to all my fellow Otakus --- I would want to share with you the cute moments I felt during my sojourn in the world of Gallia and Empire. I hope you could feel its special aura!! Hehehehe...

Valkyria Chronicles: First Look! (VALKYRIA CHRONICLES ANIME REVIEW)

Follow docalion on Twitter

I don't care how many plot holes this anime has!! and with cliche~ish moments every now and then...no need to bother them as I am already satisfied...because VALKYRIA CHRONICLES --- oozes with COOLNESS FACTOR to the bones!! Bwahaha!! Because of this one, I felt faith again!! There is hope in the Anime Community. Bwahahaha!!!

Ahermmm...Sumimasen...

Anyways, back to the topic. I accidentally fell over with this one. I saw its title from somewhere then immediately rushed to myanimelist to check. I was surprised that it received good reviews, because I believe this hasn't received much talkings (or am I Wrong?) Well, anyways..I was actually hesitant at first because I thought it might be a very lousy war title and I just might be put into a suicidal chair. But, GOOD THING...I wasn't blessed with a perfect intuition! Bwahahaha!!!

I easily fell in love with it! It wasn't as heavy as what I thought at first. It actually has nice balance of themes which a good anime could offer: Has a light approach, but with a serious tone; Not bloody, could totally be enjoyed by everyone even children; funny yet touching (kinda reminds you of the holocaust); and of course, the most important ingredient..hihihihi....the ROMANTIC BLINGY that has been circulating my hypothalamus ever since.

Bwahahaha!! Yeah, I'm writing this one because of my undying emotion towards the love pyramid that the main characters have.!! I am not even half the series, yet I already feel this unstoppable urge to say something about my new found love duo!! Wushu! I always find my new dream love team, they are already so many, now I can't even remember them. Don't mind me, I'm talking to myself..hehe ^_^

Anyhowzz..I could say that Valkyria is quite similir with Code Geass, well yeah, of course, since they are of both war type. But good thing, my comparison would be in favor with this one..hehehe.. I enjoyed Geass, but not like with this "smiling - wholeheartedly enjoyment" for Valkyria. => Unlike Code Geass, Valkyria has a soft nature which could give you a relaxing feeling. Although, it's in the middle of a war, you still can't help but be ...happy! Tee hee! I don't know..Happiness is the name of the game. Well, I don't blame Geass, because of course, it is written that way, the plot is very serious and dark. But what I am pointing is that...well,,,hehehe...just to make Valkyria shine...whatever...don't mind me...hehehe...

Where am I? Okay. May I tell you something about the characters? I'm still on episode 14, so I do not know what's still gonna happen next, but from my initial observation, I could say that...WELKIN GUNTHER is totally KAKKOI!! **nosebleed** He's totally a weirdo, but of course, a genius in disguise. Who wouldn't like him? A very naive guy, but is totally an incredible man. He fights with a very sure-to-win plan! And even though, how great and smart his opponents are, he, of course, outlasts them! Nyarhahahahahah!! (kinda fishy, he always wins no matter what)

The heroic Welkin -sama

Then we also have, Alicia. I was so happy that Marina Inoue voices her. My golly, Marina-san always receive good roles but I felt she was already typecasted with this kind of roles..but anywhoozz, so great of her! Back to Alicia, well, she's your typical strong-natured female personality whose prowess captures the hearts of men..Bwuhuhuhu!! I am now being jealous of her..Argh..but I know Welkin-sama and Alicia would be a perfect love team, so I'll let them be.! So that means, noooooooooooooooooooo other partiesss!!! (but this makes the story more interesting..tee hee!)

The aphrodite Alicia - san

Then we also have.. I won't tell it anymore. Since I felt my ramblings had been so out-of-town already. Gomen!

Over all, I am still keeping my hopes high! I know there are more happy episodes to come. I just hope that they don't disappoint. ! **always fingers crossed**

Awwww!!! (GALILEO JAPANESE REVIEW - SORT OF)

Follow docalion on Twitter

Sorry to bother you...**wink** **wink**

but i feel like writing this before the whole emotion go away...

aherm...

I'm currently watching Galileo. I already had a copy a year ago but it was only now I decided to try it out. And guess what, i found something totally new!

Nope! It's not about the the whole detective thing. It wasn't about the physics theory and the solutions to its myteries but a very not related subject.

Hehehehe...
:)

I found my new love team. Mukyaaaaa!!!!!!

O yes! Yukawa-sensei (Fukayama Masaharu) and Utsumi-kun (Shibasaki Kou) are SUCH A SUPER PERFECT COUPLE!! Wushu!

Oh my gosh! I totally wish they both end up together, not only in the drama but in REAL LIFE too. OMG to the highest power!!! This is actually a bonus in the drama since it isn't a romance type but what a PLEASANT BONUS IT IS! Oh my goshness!!! I can't concentrate in the drama anymore. Kou Shibasaki is so beautiful and Masaharu Fukuyama is totally handsome. It is so undeniable that they are the love team to beat! It's only once in a blue moon that I got to react like this but it's totally worth it (the other one is my Hotaru and Buchou love team from Hotaru no Hikari).

Now, I promised my self to make drama review first for Rookies since I already seen it weeks ago and follow it with Hana Yori Dango the Movie, but I didn't know what happen, Galileo isn't the best in the basket and quite predictable at times but it certainly presents something new and hookablity formula which I really don't know what it is ( or maybe it's really the tandem of the leads, super heheheheh)

Anyways, I'm in the last episode. I'm planning to torrent the special and the movie along with Rookies (hoping I could find already one for it).

Anyways, I'm hoping to see more Yukawa-sensei and Utsumi-kun moments until the end.

A scene in the last episode
(Not really a romantic scene but it is so romantic for me. The distance speaks a lot. It seems there is really something going on. Fufufufufu :)

What's a himono-onna?? (HOTARU NO HIKARI JAPANESE DRAMA REVIEW)

Follow docalion on Twitter

i finally made it! i have witnessed the greatest drama of the century!!!!!! although my 200 pesos have been spent unwisely because the dvd isnt complete and still have to stream two more episodes, while having problems with connection so the loading have been a loooooooong wait, i was able to watch three episodes of haruhi suzumiya because of that,,only knowing that after the 3rd part of the episode 10 the pc will just reboot...oh GOLLY.. so i still have to wait again for a decade to continue watching,,so i browse, for the moment, related info for haruhi because i got hooked mildly by the show, i thought it would grew into a more interest appreciation for the title but after the loading had finally come to its end and it's the time to continue what have been started....VOILA!!!!!!! the most incredible scenario in the history of man had just happened!!

it is the first time, as i remembered, that i really grab my hair so tightly and hold it so firmly because i felt that i was about to explode and will vanish from where i am sitting..yeah,exaggerated but the feeling is more than that, i really never felt and had reactions like that before, after watching great shows in the past (though i havent watched that lot). even hana kimi (japan) beat up my wooing for such a great show!!!! I CRIED, I LAUGHED, I WAS TOUCHED, I WAS MOVED, I WAS ECSTATIC AND I WAS HOOKED SO BADLY!!!!!! my golly, i really do not wish to expect a lot lot lot greatness from this, aside from reading from a blogger that this is a better one,,the plot was already enough to enjoy, a himono-onna character for a very beautiful and talented HOTARU who receive such good treatment from her kind hearted BUCHOU...woooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! i never wished for them to end up together at first because i want hotaru for teshima for he is younger and more handsome but................the world suddenly rotates around its axis that is why my preference eventually changed............ I WANT NOW THE TWO TO BE TOGETHER FOREVER EVEN IN REAL LIFE!!!!!!! hehehehe....

these actors are really great..i really like ayase haruka for portraying the role because he definitely gives truly justice for it..i dont find her over doing it (OA) but i find her expressions really cute through out the show,,and BUCHOU is the ideal man ever!! i thought he is perfect to be the older bro for hotaru but then their relationship should not only be like that.........good thing they really made it...even i wish there would be an extra episode i already feel contented of how the story goes....that if there would be an additional one im scared there would be complications involve but im sure it will be amazingly hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW TOUCHING THE LINES.................
Hotaru: see you.. see you..why?
Buchou: why? because you love me. and i love you too.
